New to the idea of professional Christmas decorating? We've put together some common questions to help explain the service and the process. If your question isn't here, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

I'm interested! How does it work?

We will come do a free on-site estimate at your home or business, and give you a design idea. Once you decide what options you would like to go with, we will schedule an installation date. Our trained installers will put up your display, and set it all to a timer - you do not have to be home during installation. The service doesn't end once we leave though! We continue to maintain the installation up until Christmas Eve, so that everything continues to look great. In the new year, we will schedule a removal date, and safely store your lights for the following year.

How is A Greener View Christmas Decorators different than other companies offering to hang my lights?

While we can't speak for other companies, we can tell you that when you hire A Greener View Christmas Decorators, you are hiring a registered, insured, professional company. We are not a handyman service with a truck and a ladder. Our trained installers are fall arrest and ladder safety certified, and have been installing Christmas lights for many years throughout Central Ontario and the GTA.

We only use the highest quality, commercial-grade lights and greenery for you home or business. You cannot find our products in big box stores. When you choose us for your Christmas decorating, you're choosing better products, better quality, and safe, professional installers.

Who owns the lights? Do I rent them?

You own the lights, so they are yours to keep, even if down the road you decide not to continue with our service. The cost is included in the first year price, making year one a larger investment than the following years. The benefit to this, is that you are buying a high-quality, long lasting product that you cannot get in stores. Unlike some companies who charge expensive rental fees, we prefer that our customers get more value for their money, and get to keep their investment. Our LED lights are rated for 50,000-60,000 hours, so with our proper maintenance and storage, they will continue to enhance your Christmas year after year. Also, the LED lights use 90% less electricity than traditional lights, so you won't have a big hydro bill to deal with in the new year!

Can you just put up the lights I already have?

In certain situations, we can try to work with our customers existing supply of lights, but we prefer to use our own lights. When we use our commercial quality LED lights, we trust the product. That is how we are able to guarantee your display until Christmas Eve each year. Our lights can be custom fitted and modified, and therefore they can be repaired if needed. Unfortunately, store bought lights are not designed to be repaired with replaceable parts the same way that our lights are, so we cannot offer any warranty or quality guarantee on any lights that we don't supply.

How much is it going to cost? If I send you a picture of my house can you give me a price?

We will do everything we can to design something that works for your budget. An on-site estimate is needed to accurately provide a quote. Our prices are based on the materials needed, and difficulty of the installation, which we can't properly determine without being at the property. The first year cost is the main investment, due to the initial purchase of the lights. The following years are significantly less expensive. A typical new installation cost, complete with house lights and garland, can range anywhere between $1000 and $3000, depending on the size of your house. Re-installation in following years is usually only 30 to 40 percent of the initial cost, and we always quote the re-installation price with every new estimate, so there are never any surprises. I have a large tree I would like to put lights on, can you do that?

Absolutely, we love accenting house lights with tree lighting! They enhance the look of your display and will definitely make you the talk of the neighbourhood. Lots of lights are needed to properly wrap a very large tree, so a 25-30ft evergreen tree can cost between $1000 to $2500 to professionally light the first year. Again, in subsequent years the price is significantly lower.

Can I store my own lights? Will it be cheaper?

Storage is a service we offer for a couple of reasons. Convenience for our customers is the primary reason. A second benefit though is that we know the lights will remain in good condition. We store everything inside our secure, climate-controlled location. The materials are kept in strong plastic totes. This helps us to ensure we are installing a good product year after year. We are a registered, insured company - your lights are safe with us, and can be returned to you at anytime. Some customers do prefer to store their own lights, and while we would never prevent that if you wanted to, we do prefer you let us store them. We have built the storage price into the total cost, so there is no discount for storing your own lights. We do not offer a quality guarantee on any re-installation of lights that we did not store.

If the LED lights last for up to 50,000 hours, can't you just leave them up so I don't have to pay each year?

No. It has to do with the UV rays from the sun. While the diodes within the LED bulbs are rated to last for up to 50,000 hours, the wiring is designed for seasonal use only. If the lights remain up throughout a summer season, there is no guarantee that the lights will function properly when Christmas comes back around. Once again, you own the lights - so if you want the lights left up, we will leave them up. However, we strongly recommend proper removal and storage each year, in order to protect your investment. We cannot offer any warranty or guarantee on lights that are left up year round.
